–Ogu scores, sees red in Hapoel win; Mikel Plays for 74 minutes in Chelsea draw
ENGLAND
John Mikel Obi (Chelsea): Super Eagles midfielder John Mikel Obi made his fourth start of the season for Chelsea who drew 1-1 with Southampton at St Mary’s on Sunday.
The Nigerian international was replaced by Didier Drogba in the 74th minute. Mikel who is in his ninth season at Stamford Bridge has so far played 12 games in the Premier League.
Sone Aluko (Hull City): Nigerian midfielder Sone Aluko played his 13th EPL game of the season for Hull City in Sunday’s 1-0 loss against Leicester City. Aluko who was replaced by Abel Hernandez in the 62nd minute has one goal to his name for the Tigers.
He has made six starts and has not scored in his last five games. His only goal was against Everton in their 1-1 draw on the 3rd of December.
Brown Ideye, Victor Anichebe (West Brom); Peter Odemwingie, Victor Moses (Stoke City): Nigerian striker Brown Ideye made his sixth EPL start for West Brom who lost 2-0 away to Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium. It was his ninth appearance in the EPL and 12th in all competitions for the Baggies. He has scored twice this season. The duo of Osaze and Moses were missing from the game as they are still recuperating from their respective injuries.
Sammy Ameobi (Newcastle United): Nigerian-born forward Sammy Ameobi missed Newcastle United’s clash against Everton at St James’ Park due to injury. The lanky forward has scored once in 13 games. The Magpies next game is against Burnley.
Kenneth Omeruo (Middlesbrough): Super Eagles defender Kenneth Omeruo was left out of Middlesbrough’s squad that played out a 0-0 draw against Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park. The Chelsea loanee has played 14 games for the Riverside team this season.
Odion Ighalo (Watford): Nigerian striker Odion Ighalo scored his fourth Championship goal of the season for Waford in their 4-2 win away at Cardiff City to end his nine-match goal drought for the Hornets. Ighalo who last scored a goal for his side in their 2-2 draw at home to Nottingham Forest in October doubled Watford’s lead in the 45th minute of the win. He has played 18 games in the Championship.
Dan Shittu (Millwall): Former Nigerian defender Danny Shittu played for 67 minutes as Millwall went down 2-0 to AFC Bournemouth on Sunday. The former Bolton centre half was yellow carded in the 12th minute in his ninth appearance in the championship. Shittu who was replaced by Alan Dunne has scored once this term.
Hope Akpan (Reading): Super Eagles midfielder Hope Akpan was not listed for Reading in Sunday’s 2-1 win at home to Norwich City. Akpan played 12 games before he got injured in action for Nigeria.

John Ogu, Austin Ejide (Hapoel Beer Sheva): Nigeria international John Ogu scored his second goal of the season in Hapoel Beer Sheva’s 2-1 win over Hapoel Petah Tikva.
Ogu gave his side a deserved lead in the 16th minute when he powered home a header from a corner kick but was sent off in the stoppage time of the game. Ogu who confessed that he was gutted over the situation via his twitter handle has played all 15 games. His compatriot, Ejide, was in action as well but conceded his 14th goal of the 15 league games.
Juwon Oshaniwa, Yero Bello (Ashdod FC): Nigerian defender Juwon Oshaniwa was left out of the Ashdod squad that lost 1-0 to Hapoel Haifa but Yero Bello saw 57 minutes of action in the defeat at the Yud-Alef stadium. Bello was replaced by Abu Anze in his 13th appearance, scoring three times, while Oshaniwa has played six games.
Olanrewaju Kayode (Maccabi Netanya): Former Nigerian youth international, Olanrewaju Kayode, played for 89 minutes in Maccabi Netanya 1-0 win away at Maccabi Petah Tikva. Kayode who has scored five goals in 14 games was replaced by Oded Gavish.

Uche Nwofor (Lierse): Super Eagles forward Uche Nwofor played for 43 minutes before being hauled off in Lierse’s 6-0 defeat at home to Club Brugge. The former VVV Venlo attacker has so far chalked up eight appearances and has scored once. He was replaced by Manuel Curto.
Chuks Aneke (Zulte-Waregem): Nigerian-born forward Chuks Aneke was left out of Zulte-Waregem’s squad that lost 3-1 to Sporting Charleroi on Sunday. Aneke who is on loan from EPL side Arsenal has scored two goals from 19 appearances in the Belgian Jupilier.
TURKEY
Emmanuel Emenike (Fenerbache): Super Eagles striker Emmanuel Emenike was not listed in Fenerbache’s squad that beat Mersin İdmanyurdu 1-0 to remain top of the Turkish Super Lig. Emenike has only scored twice in 13 games.
Macauley Chrisantus, John Utaka (Sivasspor): Former youth international,Chrisantus Macauley, was benched for the entire duration of Sivasspor’s 0-0 draw away at Kasımpaşa. Chrisantus has scored one goal in eight appearances while Utaka who missed the encounter was bagged two goals in ten games.
