Atletico Madrid are on the trail of Watford star striker Odion Ighalo, according to reports in Spain.
Ighalo is the top-scoring player in England’s top four tiers in the calendar year after netting 30 times in 2015, 16 in the Championship, 14 in the Premier League.
Atletico boss Diego Simeone is said to be a big admirer of the Nigeria star, whose 14 league goals is the most scored by any Watford player in Premier League history.
The 2013/2014 La Liga champions are said to be willing to pay £12million for the red-hot Nigerian.
Ighalo’s goal in Monday’s 2-1 defeat to Tottenham made it sox straight games in which he has scored, another Watford record.
The Super Eagles forward paid tribute to his strike partner Troy Deeney for helping him reach the 30-goal mark in the outgoing year.
“Thanks to God, my family, my team mates for a great 2015 and most especially @T_Deeney who assisted me in scoring 30.” Ighalo tweeted on Tuesday.
