–Statistics reveals Watford striker’s exploits in Uk

Nigerian striker Odion Ighalo has emerged as the tops marksman in England, this year’s statistics have revealed.

The 25-year old Watford forward has scored more goals in 2015 than any player in all divisions in England, outscoring EPL quartet of Diego Costa, Sergio Agureo, Harry Kane and Danny Ings.

The Nigerian has scored 13 goals in nine games for Watford in 2015, four goals more that Tottenham Hotspurs striker Harry Kane and nine more than the duo of Costa and Aguero who have found the back of the net four times.

His nine goals this year – including four against Blackpool and two apiece against Charlton, Brentford and Rotherham – have attracted interest from top EPL teams.

In the Championship, he has scored 17 goals in 26 games as Watford are pushing for promotion having maintained sixth position in the Championship.

Meanwhile, Ighalo has been getting rave reviews for his performance since the start of this year, but the former Flying Eagles skipper is refusing to allow the praise get to his head.

He admitted that he had to contend with a different football culture when he arrived England last summer from Spain, which contributed to his failure to get off the starting blocks quickly.

”When you just come to a different league, it takes you time to adapt to the way they play. The way they play football in England is different from what I experienced in Spain,” Odion Ighalo said to SL10.ng.

”In Spain, they like the ball on the ground, but here in England it’s very hard, you have to run hard.

”The Championship is one of the hardest leagues in the world, it is very physical.

”When I first came with the Spanish mentality, I thought it was the same way but I’m getting used to it.

”I have to keep working hard and see how the season goes because I can do better.”

As things stand, Odion Ighalo is second in the Championship’s goal scoring charts, behind Ipswich Town’s Daryl Murphy, who has notched 21 goals.

The Watford number 24 has insisted that his goals will count for nothing if The Hornets don’t get promoted to the Premier League at the end of this season.
