Ighalo: Mikel, Moses, Onazi, Balogun Are Eagles Key Players

By Johnny Edward: Odion Ighalo says that he feels more confident of a Super Eagles’ win each time the quartet of Mikel Obi, Victor Moses, Ogenyi Onazi and Leon Balogun are in the starting X1 for the Super Eagles, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.

Ighalo who has scored once in three World Cup qualifying games for the Super Eagles explains that the inclusion of these players breeds confidence to the rest of the team.

“No disrespect to Ahmed Musa, Kelechi Iheanacho, they are good players but when these players (Mikel Obi, Victor Moses, Ogenyi Onazi and Leon Balogun) are in the team they boost the confidence of other players,” Ighalo told Completesportsnigeria.com.

“We have an experienced and youthful side that can win games for us so its blend is good and I hope that we can continue in that way to make an impact at the world Cup.”

All four players have been instrumental to the Super Eagles’ impressive run during the Russia 2018 World Cup qualifiers.

Ighalo who also scored his 15th Chinese Super League goal on Sunday in Changchun Yatai’s 3-1 win over Jiangsu Suning is two goals from equalling Ghana’s Kwame Ayew 17 goal record set by an African player in 2004 while he featured for Inter Shanghai.

  • SUu jiu jiu(disagree in chines)what about #wilfred_Ndidi and #shehuAbdullahi

  • Bro..wit this sqaurd even Brazil and Spain are in danger

  • Coming from a team player the coach should take note

Ighalo should work on size.He should be lighter so as to make him turn faster with the ball. I love his football but as soon as he is dislodged of ball, he is either slow to pick up or he slowly walks back to the middle.

  • May always be lucky

  • Ighalo, we know that too, but please leave fans to say this, not you. What if others like Ndidi, Simon &co refuse to pass the ball to you cos they think you’re now feeling like one of the superstars? Who loses Kwa? NIGERIA! As far as I’m concerned, the only current squad members I won’t really miss if they’re injured are Iheanacho, Akpeyi, ‘Agu. Others are very important.

Kel you have always been on point unlike majorities who just come here and write nonsense. Sometimes I feel most people only understand “it’s a goal” this same Ighalo is good at missing goals just like Benzema

  • Do not expose the strength of the team. In 1994,Italy knew our strength after Amunike opener,he was injured.Amochaci took over the game and was equally set packing, leaving jugglers behind.Samson Siasia was not fielded for whatever reason and that’s how we fail. Last world cup Onazi was the only force needed to be cleared by France and they did just that. We should go into the next world cup not only as an ambitious side but as an experienced team and even use what European teams taught us over the years.

  • Ighalo speaks like a basket baller.

The world shouldn’t know our strenght, already this blabbing about a mix of old and young, will make other countries start copying us, please let us lay low, even get beaten in friendlies, and give us results in the world cup proper, france beat us last world cup,it is common sense, we fans can see we can beat france, somethings were not right, i take for instance a player hit Mikel in the face, please guys go watch that match again, Mikel should take that as a big deal, fall in the ground like he killed you,its them technic they taught is, Ravaldo did it,so those little things will brings us points. Mikel you my man, any time, So Eagles let live the talk on the field. We will shine, and make Africa proud.

Honestly Bro..In 5 world cup games,He scored just once and he is oncompletesports talking major tactics..will he say such when hewas at watford and granada?

  • He is making sense, at least we are all witness to what South Africa (no disrespect) did to us in Uyo. We thought our team is strong enough with out our star players but we were humble by South Africa who have been our weeping boys for years. So indeed there is always to have that need to strike a balance between experience and youth.
