The brilliant form of former Flying Eagles and Dream Team V striker Odion Ighalo could be rewarded on Friday as he has been nominated for the Sky Bet Championship Player of the Month award for February 2015.
Ighalo scored six times in four starts in February, including a vital winner away at Brentford and a double against Rotherham.
The Benin City-born forward who last played for Spanish La Liga side, Granada, Completesportsnigeria.com can report will compete with Forest’s Henri Lansbury, Derby’s Tom Ince and Leeds ‘keeper Marco Silvestri for the accolade.
Winners will be announced on Friday by The Football League and Sky Bet.
Ighalo’s club manager Slavisa Jokanovic has also been nominated for the Managers’ awards to be announced on Friday.
Jokanovic guided the Golden Boys to five wins from six last month, including three comeback victories on the road against Brentford, Bolton and Leeds.
The Serbian, the club’s website noted, is up against Norwich’s Alex Neil, former Watford boss and Wolves manager Kenny Jackett, and Nottingham Forest’s Dougie Freedman.
The form of Ighalo has reportedly alerted some Premier League clubs who could swoop for the striker who starred for Nigeria at the 2009 FIFA U20 World Cup in Egypt under the reins of Samson Siasia.
