Iheanacho Begins Man City Pre-season Under‎ Guardiola

By Johnny Edward: Super Eagles attacking midfielder, Kelechi Iheanacho was part of the squad that began pre-season on Monday with Manchester City at their training base – with their new coach, Pep Guardiola on his first full day as boss, ‎Completesportsnigeria.com reports.

Skipper Vincent Kompany, along with his assistant, Yaya Toure and new signings; Ikay Gundogan and Nolito, were also some of the players who were involved in the session.

Others who also reported for duty included Samir Nasri, Fernandinho and Fabian Delph.

The players underwent tests routine, headed up by their meticulous sports science department, and were reminded how much work needs to be done by each individual before the Premier League starts in August.

They were also handed an exercise programme during their time off which they are expected to adhere to.
David Silva and Raheem Sterling are not yet due to return, while the same goes for Sergio Aguero and Nicolas Otamendi, whose Copa America campaigns finished last Monday.

The French duo of Bacary Sagna and Eliaquim Mangala will still be on holiday when City take on Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena for their opening pre-season friendly on July 20.

Iheanacho enjoyed an impressive breakthrough season last term scoring 14 goals and will want to continue this year under Guardiola.
