Iheanacho Promises More After First City Goal

By Izuchukwu Okosi:

Nigeria’s Kelechi Iheanacho is understandably excited by his first official senior Manchester City goal on Saturday against Crystal Palace and has promised to work even harder.

The former youth international told City’s website, who started a story on the creative midfielder with ‘Cometh the hour, cometh the Kelechi’ that the goal will spur him to work harder.

“It means so much to me,” he said. “I’m happy and very grateful and I thank the manager for introducing me.

“The fans went crazy when I scored. We are all happy.”

“Palace is a great team – they have done well to be second in the Premier League table.

“I will try to do my best in training and in games if I’m introduced. I’m hoping to do great for the team.”

Iheanacho understands it will be a tough task to displace City’s big stars in subsequent games despite his feat on Saturday.

“It’s not easy. We have great players here but I have to keep working hard.

“We are much stronger this season with quality players. We are going to go all the way.”
