Nigeria forward Kelechi Iheanacho made an instant impact on Saturday, providing an assist four minutes after coming on in his second substitute appearance this season for Manchester City who claimed a back to back Premier League win on Saturday defeating Stoke City 4-1 at the Bet365 Stadium.
The 20-year-old who this week signed a two-year contract extension replaced Sergio Aguero with nine minutes left to play laid a perfect pass on a plate for Nolito to fire home from close range for the Spaniard’s first Premier League goal.
Nolito bagged his brace in stoppage time, tapping home Raheem Sterling’s cross.
The win sealed a second successive win for Pep Guardiola this season following an opening day win over Sunderland.
Sergio Aguero’s first half brace saw Mark Hughes side trail 2-0 at half time.
David Silva, Raheem Sterling, Sergio Aguero and Jesus Navas all had chances to put City a goal up in the opening stages.
But it was the Argentine striker, who missed twice from the spot in The Citizens’ 5-0 thumping of Steau Bucarest in the UEFA Champions League play-offs, who scored a penalty to hand his side a 1-0 lead in the 27th minute after Ryan Shawcross was adjudged to have pulled Nicolas Otamendi’s shirt in the box.
It was the ninth penalty Shawcross was conceding since making his Premier League debut in August 2008.
Aguero doubled his side’s lead ten minutes before half time when he rose highest to head in Kevin De Bruyne’s free kick into the bottom corner.
At the restart, Stoke were awarded a penalty when Raheem Sterling was booked for holding Shawcross in the box.
Bojan Krikic stepped up to send Will Caballero the wrong way to make it 2-1.
Stoke who have won two of the last four Premier League meetings against City were denied another penalty when Sterling appeared to have made make contact with Jonathan Walters in the 81st minute.Fastest Paying Betting Site in Nigeria: Grab your 140% First Time Deposit Bonus Now — www.Sportybet.Com Copyright © 2021 Completesports.com All rights reserved.
