–Enyimba coach warns team not to underrate opponents
Former Super Falcons coach Kadiri Ikhana has warned the senior national women’s team featuring at the ongoing African Women’s Championship in Namibia not to underrate South Africa in today’s semi final clash.
The Super Falcons who have been very impressive since the commencement of the Championship in Namibia will be looking forward to a victory that will guarantee Nigeria a place in the final of the tournament serving as qualifier for the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Canada next year.
“This is a very crucial stage in this tournament and the girls should be very careful. They must not underrate the South Africans because they are not easy opponents, they know Nigeria very well and they will be out to get result at all cost but if the Super Falcons can be focused and make sure they don’t underrate them, I am sure we have a team that can win the trophy,” says the Enyimba coach.
“The team is well organized but they have to be well determined because the South Africans have not been doing badly as well and more so, they have young players that will be ready to give any opponent a good fight.
Ikhana however believes that if Nigeria can cross the semi final stage, nothing will stop the girls from winning the tournament.
“If these girls can cross this difficult stage, I am sure that nothing will stop them from winning the Championship.
It would be recalled that the Super Falcons lost the title at the last edition held in Equatorial Guinea and they have promised to reclaim it at this edition.
