Ikhana: Wolves Are Real Threat ‎

By Sab Osuji:

Enyimba of Aba coach, Kadiri Ikhana knows he has one hand on the league title and cannot afford to slip at this crucial moment, but recognises the fact that their opponent, Warri Wolves are potential party -poppers, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.

Ikhana has won the domestic silverware more than any other coach and still believes he has an unfinished business yet with the People's Elephant.

Needing just a point in the remaining two games of the season, Ikhana knows the pace at which second placed Warri Wolves are galloping up the ladder is too close for comfort, and he has warned his Elephants on the dangers of feeling the title is safe and secure in their grips.

Enyimba are six points clear at the summit of the table but have continued to look over their shoulders because Wolves have massive goals advantage over them.

"The league has not been won, the season has not equally ended – may be until the last day," Ikhana told Completesportsnigeria.com  after opening a six-point gap with Warri Wolves following a 1-0 defeat of Abia Warriors in Umuahia on Sunday.

"This is what I've told my players, not to think that,  maybe having won the Abia derby in Umuahia, that the season is over, no, it is not yet so.

"If they go to sleep, that will be their fault. I believe that the league title race is still wide open, very, very open".

Warri Wolves who are breathing furiously behind Enyimba in the title race will storm Aba Sunday in what clearly appears as the title-deciding game.

Ikhana reckons that indeed, the match day 37 tie will be difficult and tough at the same time, saying it will provide a perfect advertisement for Nigerian top flight.

"Like I told you, since we assumed top position on the log, we have taken every game as a cup final.

"Maybe that's why we have remained there till now. We still want to remain on top after the match against Warri Wolves.

"That's a target we have set for ourselves and that is what we're working for.

"Yes, it won't be easy, what we hope for or what we intend to achieve won't come easy.

"While we strive to achieve our ambition, our opponents also want to get theirs accomplished.

"It therefore provides a platform for the toughest and most difficult game and at the same time brings out the best in Nigerian league", Ikhana said.
