Billy Joe Saunders has been cleared of wrongdoing following a failed drugs test and insists he’s a “clean athlete”. The 29-year-old has been at the centre of controversy recently, being fined £100,000 and seriously reprimanded by the British Boxing Board of Control after a video emerged of him offering a woman drugs.
The WBO world middleweight champion has then been forced to deny failing a drugs tests after reports emerged of an ‘adverse analytical finding’ concerning the Brit, speculation suggesting he had taken a banned stimulant.
The BBBofC has now cleared Saunders of any wrongdoing with his promoter Frank Warren revealing the nasal spray used by his fighter which was flagged up by the testing was permitted out of the competition.
In a statement, Waren said: “Today the BBBofC have confirmed that Mr Saunders is not in breach of BBBofC or UKAD anti-doping regulations and is therefore in good standing and is licensed to box and defend his world title on October 20.
“Mr Saunders has been tested a number of times in 2018, all negative, his last out of competition test by UKAD was on 24th September 2018.”
Saunders, who defends his WBO title against Demetrius Andrade in Boston on October 20, posted on his Twitter feed: “Thank you to my fans who stick by me I’m a clean athlete and gonna be around a long time thank you all stay blessed.”Fastest Paying Betting Site in Nigeria: Grab your 140% First Time Deposit Bonus Now — www.Sportybet.Com Copyright © 2021 Completesports.com All rights reserved.
