Nigerian striker, Obafemi Martins, started light training at the gym today (Tuesday) in Lagos five months after rupturing his muscle fibre in April, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
Martin’s copped the injury while in action for Shanghai Shenhua against Kashima Antlers in the Asian Champions League in April.
He has since underwent a successful surgery in London.
The 33 year old who was tipped to gatecrash the Super Eagles’squad for the Russia 2018 World Cup, told Completesportsnigeria.com that he was gradually working his was back to full fitness.
“My rehabilitation is going very well. I work at the gym everyday. I can’t wait to resume with my teammates,” Martins breifly told CSN in Lagos on Tuesday.
Martins has scored 19 goals in 40 Chinese Super League games since he made his debut in 2015 for Shanghai Shenhua.
The former Wolfsburg and Newcastle United striker also has 18 goals in 42 games for the Super Eagles.
