Onyekuru was to undergo surgery on his knee after being strecthered off in a Belgian league match two weeks ago.
He got injured late into Anderlecht’s 1-0 win over his former club Eupen in a Belgian First Division A fixture and Anderlecht confirmed he would undergo surgery and be out for several months.
“Back at @Everton a little earlier than expected, I am so grateful for the facilities and the medical team working hard to get me back playing ASAP!” Onyekuru tweeted on Saturday with a picture of him in Everton kit at the club’s grounds.
“The Lord is my strength 🙏🏾.”
Onyekuru joined Everton from Eupen at the beginning of the season but was immediately loaned out to Anderlecht where he overcame a slow start to hit good form.
The youngster scored nine goals in 19 league appearances for Anderlecht and 10 goals in 28 games in all competitions despite playing mostly as a wide forward.
