There was jubilation in the camp of the Super Falcons when news filtered in that Asisat Oshoala who got injured playing her club, Liverpool Ladies in the Women Soccer League in England last Saturday has returned to training.
Super Falcons acting coach Chris Danjuma, who led the Nigeria senior women’s team to play a 1-1 draw in Abuja with their counterparts from Equatorial Guinea in a Rio Olympic Games first leg qualifier, said he needed Oshoala and others for the return leg.
Oshoala reportedly called to inform that she has begun light training at Liverpool and that she is hopeful to be available for the return leg of the Equatorial Guinea game in Bata on August 2.
Liverpool Ladies had earlier promised to release Oshoala on July 26 for the second leg in Bata before an injury led to her being substituted in a league game last Saturday.
Meanwhile, the NFF have sent out letters inviting all the foreign-based players who featured in Saturday’s 1-1 draw and those who did not come including Oshoalla Asisat, Onome Ebi, Josephine Chukwunonye and suspended Sarah Nnorum.11 BUSINESS NUGGETS FROM SUPER EAGLES BRONZE MEDAL TRIUMPH.
