Under-23 Eagles player, Oghenekaro Etebo, has been ruled out against Congo in the third place match of the men’s football event of the All Africa Games following a groin injury.
This was revealed by the media officer of the team, Timi Ebikagboro.
Etebo now joins three other injured players on the sideline, leaving the team with no outfield player on the bench.
“With Etebo out of the third place match against Congo, with a groin, the team will now field all the remaining 11 out field players,” Ebikagboro said.
The Nigerian team had gone to Congo with 18 players. So with four players out injured, they now have 14 players, three goalkeepers and 11 outfield players.
“By this, it means all the fit 11 players will now dress for the third place game against Congo, with no natural left-full back in the line-up,” Ebikagboro added.
On Tuesday, the U-23 Eagles lost 3-1 to Burkina Faso in the semi-final.
