Super Eagles defender Ola Aina is doubtful, over injury, for Torino’s away clash with William Troost-Ekong’s Udinese in the Italian Serie A on Sunday, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
Both players (Aina and Ekong) pulled out of Nigeria’s 2019 Africa Cup of Nations clash against Seychelles due to injuries.
Aina sustained amuscular injury in Torino’s 1-0 win over SPAL 2013 before the internationa, while Ekong suffered a knock on his ankle. Now the anticipated first ever clash at club level for the two Nigeria teammates this weekend may have been scuttled by injuries.
Aina has failed to recover fully, according to a report on Italian website Toro.it. The 22 year old featured for 87 minutes before he was replaced by Alex Berenguer in the encounter.
“Aina trained separately from the squad for the game and will still undergo further test,” the report revealed.
Aina has made three appearances in the Serie A for Torino.
The Chelsea loanee has made six appearances for the Super Eagles since he made his debut.
Meanwhile, Troost-Ekong trained separately from the rest of his Udinese teammates raising hopes he could be fit for the clash according to Udinese’s official website.
“William Troost-Ekong and Antonin Barak returned to Udine to continue the rehabilitation path to recover from their injuries,” a statement on Udinese’s official website revealed on Tuesday..
The 25 year old Nigerian defender has made two appearances for the Udinese since he joined the club in the summer.
