Striker Eager To Play At The Top

Tammy Abraham wants to play his football at the highest level and says he is ready to compete for a role at Chelsea. The 21-year-old academy graduate has never had a fair chance to challenge for a starting berth since making his debut in 2016.

Indeed, he has been restricted to just two Premier League appearances for the Blues after opting to spending the last three seasons out on-loan with Bristol City, Swansea and Aston Villa. He scored 25 goals in the Championship last season to help Villa win promotion to the Premier League and has been linked with a return to Villa Park next term.

But Chelsea may refuse to let the striker depart – due to their transfer ban – and Abraham insists he would be happy to stay and fight for his place. “The aim is to be at the highest level and playing the best football, and if Chelsea say they need me there I will put 100 per cent in,” Abraham said.

“Every player wants to start. Obviously if it is at Chelsea, a team like Chelsea is always difficult because they have got world-class players. “It is always going to be difficult to bring in youngsters and bring in people like myself – it is a big role. “But for me, it is about believing in myself and just keep doing what I do.”
