AEK Eye Norwich Outcast

Greek side AEK Athens are set to make an approach for Norwich City’s out-of-favour striker Nelson Oliveira, according to reports. The 27-year-old moved to Carrow Road in the summer of 2016 having spent loans spells with both Swansea City and Nottingham Forest from parent club Benfica.

The Portugal international scored 23 goals from 71 appearances in all competitions for the Canaries but fell down the pecking order last season and was loaned out to Reading in January 2019. Oliveira managed three Championship goals form 10 outings but is now back in East Anglia with little prospect of playing under Daniel Farke in the Premier League next term.

It was thought that the much-travelled hitman would leave last summer but he remained until the winter window, however his days at the club are now surely numbered. AEK Portuguese coach Miguel Cardoso seems keen, with Greek website Iapopsi.gr claiming the Yellow-Blacks are prepared to pick up his wages of around £20,000 per week in order to take him to the Olympic Stadium. It has also been suggested that the Super League outfit are happy to do a permanent deal but there has been no mention of the possible fee involved.
