Alonso Hints At F1 Comeback

Two-time Formula 1 champion Fernando Alonso has hinted that he may return to the sport in time for the 2020 season.

The Spaniard is unlikely to renew his WEC contract at Toyota for the 2019/20 season but he continues to keep himself busy since leaving F1. Alonso won the 24 Hours of Daytona while he also been testing for McLaren’s F1 team.

He will also compete at Indy500 in May before then taking part in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in June.

However, the 37-year-old is refusing to rule out a full season in F1 after being asked about his future. “I feel that I need to recharge the batteries a little bit,” Alonso told reporters.

“But in 2020 it could be a full season in IndyCar, a full season in F1, a full season in a different series.” Alonso continues to keep his options open but he may need to decide before the new WEC season gets underway in five months time.
