Aston Villa Handed Boost in Morelos Race

Aston Villa have been given a boost after transfer target Alfredo Morelos confirmed he is eager to play in the Premier League in the near future. The Colombia international has been a massive hit at Rangers since he joined them from HJK in 2017.

He has already scored 14 goals in 18 games this season as the Gers try to end Celtic’s run of eight Scottish Premiership titles. Five of those goals have come in the league, helping Steven Gerrard’s men establish a two-point lead at the top of the Premiership table.

Although his goalscoring has never been in doubt, Morelos’ time in Glasgow has been overshadowed by a poor disciplinary record, but he seems to have learned his lessons under Gerrard in recent weeks.

Although he is the best-paid player in Scottish football and is playing European football with the Light Blues, Morrelos is understood to be keen on a move south of the border.

Villa have been linked with his services for several months with rumours resurfacing at the start of October.
Morelos has now fuelled speculation about a move while on international duty in Colombia, telling the local media: “I’ve spoken a lot to Steven Gerrard this season. It’s thanks to him that I am here.

“He’s just a good man-manager and a great coach. Things have gone really well for me at Rangers this season. I’ve scored in just about every game for them.” “It’s not a secret that I admire the English Premier League. I have to keep scoring goals for Rangers if I am ever to get a chance of moving to a club there.”

Villa are looking for more support for Wesley Moraes as they try to keep themselves in the Premier League, the Brazilian having struggled at times since his arrival from Club Brugge this summer, although he netted a hat-trick in the Villans last game at Norwich

Dean Smith’s side are unbeaten in their last three matches in all competitions and have moved up to 15th in the league table as a result.
