Coach Diego Simeone is desperate to keep goalkeeper Jan Oblak at Atletico Madrid and insists talks over a new deal have begun. Oblak joined Atletico from Benfica in 2014 and has made 174 appearances in all competitions for the capital club.
The 25-year-old continues to operate at a high level between the posts for the La Liga high flyers and other clubs have shown more than a passing interest in the Slovenia international.

His current deal expires in the summer of 2021 and Simeone has made it clear Los Rojiblancos will do all they can to ensure he remains at Wanda Metropolitano. “I know the club is working in order to make Jan stay,” he said.
“We talked with him this week and he knows what he wants and needs. He knows that we need him too; he’s a key player in the present and in the future of the club’s potential growth.”
