Aubameyang Up For The Fight

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is certain Arsenal have what it takes to fight for a spot in the top four this season. Aubameyang netted his second goal of the season to help Arsenal edge past Burnley 2-1 at the Emirates on Saturday.

He was also the match-winner last weekend as he scored to seal a 1-0 victory against Newcastle at St James’ Park.
It’s the first time Arsenal, who have yet to field a full-strength XI in 2019-20, have won their first two games of a Premier League season since 2009-10.

Arsenal made a positive start in north London as Alexandre Lacazette, who has been involved in 28 goals in 36 league appearances at the Emirates, scrambled the ball over the line with just 13 minutes on the clock.

But the Gunners were unable to kick on from that moment as Burnley came back fighting and the Clarets got their reward shortly before half time when Ashley Barnes equalised.

The home side looked far superior for the majority of the second half and Aubameyang proved his worth once again with a driven effort to restore their advantage.

Unai Emery’s men sit second as one of only two sides, along with Liverpool, to have registered two victories this term so far.

Summer arrivals Dani Ceballos and David Luiz were handed their full debuts with the former likely doing enough to retain his spot when they face Liverpool next week.

The Real Madrid loanee looked like a Premier League veteran as he stroked the ball around the middle third on Saturday afternoon.

He finished the game with two assists to his name and has immediately endeared himself to the Arsenal faithful.
The jury is still out with Luiz as he was arguably at fault for allowing Barnes to get to the ball when Burnley equalised in the first half.

Nicolas Pepe also got another outing from the bench but he was unable to open his account despite the game being very stretched when he was introduced.

Aubameyang clearly feels the trio can have a big impact over the course of the season and is confident they can aid the Gunners in trying to return to the top four. “We started well today and it is good to start with two wins before we go to Liverpool, we feel confident and feel good,” Aubameyang told BT Sport.

“I think we feel stronger with players like David Luiz, Dani Ceballos, and [Nicolas] Pepe. We are sure we can fight for the top four.”
