Bailey Believes In Vinndication

Trainer Kim Bailey says Vinndication could run again this season despite faring poorly at Cheltenham last week. The six-year-old was only entered late in the JLT Novices’ Chase on Thursday after losing his unbeaten record in the Scilly Isles Novices’ Chase.

Bailey announced he would not be running at Cheltenham but had a late change of heart before the meeting. However, Vinndication could only manage fifth place behind Defi Du Seuil on Thursday to continue his poor recent record – though Bailey refused to be too downhearted, and says there is a chance for a run out at the Punchestown Festival.

“He ran a nice race, but just made a couple of mistakes, I was just disappointed he got beaten for fourth as I would have been able to walk back into the paddock instead of the unsaddling enclosure!” said Bailey. “Cheltenham is a big day, with big fences.

He’s won little novice chases comfortably and been in two Grade Ones now, which shook his confidence a little bit, but he’ll be fine. “I’ll see how he comes out of the race, there’s a possibility he could go to Punchestown, but we’ll wait and see.”
