It also took the 24-year-old a period of time to settle into life in Italy but he has been thriving at the San Siro over recent months, making 28 appearances across all competitions.

The former Monaco ace has made no secret of the fact he is enjoying his time with Milan and has once again confirmed he would like to make his move a permanent one.

“My future? We’re waiting for the end of the season,” Bakayoko told RMC Sport. “I’m under contract with Chelsea but I’m very happy at Milan and I’d like to continue with them.

“It was difficult at the start, also because of the language. Today things are going much better, both on the field and in everyday life, and I’m very happy.”

Bakayoko is also targeting a top-four finish for Milan this season as the Rossoneri look to secure a return to the Champions League, with an international recall also one of his personal objectives.

“As for the future, the objective is to finish in the top four with Milan and have a surprise: a recall to the national team,” the midfielder added.
