Rennes have confirmed the signing of free agent Hatem Ben Arfa on a two-year contract. The France international’s two-year stay at Paris Saint-Germain came to an end this summer and he had been in talks with numerous clubs – with several believed to be in the Championship – about a move.
Ligue 1 outfit Rennes have managed to snap up the former Newcastle United winger on a deal until the summer of 2020 and he is looking forward to the challenge ahead.
“I learned a lot of things in Paris,” he said at a presentation on Sunday. “The last year has been very complicated, but one can learn from every experience. We fall, we get up, we fall, we get up. Today, thanks to all of it, I am confident.”
Ben Arfa could make his debut in the home clash against one of his former employers, Nice, on September 14.
