Benkovic Unsure Over Next Move

Leicester defender Filip Benkovic is unsure where he will be playing next season but admits a return to Celtic could be on the cards. The centre-back joined Leicester from Dinamo Zagreb last summer for a fee in the region of £13million but he is yet to make an appearance for the Foxes.

He was loaned out to Celtic for the 2018-19 season and played a role in helping the club to win the domestic treble for a third successive time. Brendan Rodgers, who left Celtic for Leicester last term, is clearly a big admirer of Benkovic but the defender’s future remains unclear.

The likes of Harry Maguire, Wes Morgan and Jonny Evans are likely to be fighting to be first choice at King Power Stadium and Bekovic admits he could go back to Celtic to continue his development. “We will have to wait and see what happens in the summer and what is the plan for me next season,” Benkovic told the Scottish Herald.

“We have spoken a little bit about what will happen but not too much as I was just concentrating on Celtic. “I wouldn’t rule out coming back to Celtic and you never know where life will take you. I don’t know what will happen, but I really enjoyed my time at the club. I am so proud to have played for Celtic and I am so thankful for everything they did for me.”
