Fulham goalkeeper Marcus Bettinelli has reportedly emerged as a January transfer target for Aston Villa. Bettinelli, who was included in England’s squad for the matches against Spain and Switzerland in September, has been one of three keepers used in Fulham’s first-team this season following promotion to the Premier League.
Former manager Slavisa Jokanovic signed Fabri from Turkish side Besiktas in the summer transfer window whilst fellow shot-stopper Sergio Rico also arrived on a season-long loan from La Liga outfit Sevilla.
The latter started Claudio Ranieri’s first game in charge since his appointed at Craven Cottage and the new boss is expected to stick with the same keeper after picking up a 3-2 victory against Southampton last time out.
Bettinelli was on the bench in that clash with the Saints, although he is rumoured to be frustrated at being demoted to number two, leading to claims he will look for a move away in January.
Villa, who drew 5-5 with Nottingham Forest on Wednesday evening, are said to be concerned at the performances of number one Orjan Nyland and are eager to bring in reinforcements in this department.
Head coach Dean Smith is reportedly a fan of Bettinelli’s and will look to wrap up a loan deal in the new year.
