Bjork Excited For China Defence

Alexander Bjork says he is looking forward to defending his Volvo China Open title at a different venue this week.

World number 80 Bjork broke his European Tour duck in last year’s event at Topwin Golf and Country Club, holding off Spaniard Adrian Otaegui by one stroke in a thrilling final round.

The 28-year-old Swede, who heads into the tournament off the back of a tied-ninth finish at the Trophee Hassan II, will be defending his title at Genzon Golf Club – a venue that last hosted the event in 2014.

Frenchman Alexander Levy triumphed five years ago and he will be aiming for his third China Open title when he tees it up this week, having landed his crown in 2017 at Topwin G&CC.

Bjork is feeling confident ahead of the tournament and is looking forward to a venue he played at in two years ago. “I’ve played Genzon before and it’s quite a tough course with a good layout,” he told the European Tour’s official website. “I remember it being a tropical-style course with hot and humid weather. “I enjoyed it when I was there in 2017 so I look forward to going back there and I know it will be a great event.”
