Bayern Munich legend Lothar Matthaus fears Jerome Boateng may not get back in the Germany squad while Joachim Low remains in charge.
The World Cup winning-defender has been dropped by Die Mannschaft boss Low and club legend Matthaus believes his time as an international may be up after he was left out of the squad for the friendly with Russia on November 15 and the Nations League clash with Holland four days later.

After suffering issues with form and fitness, Matthaus says he thinks Boateng needs a break but doubts whether he will be able to force his way back into the side at a later date.
He told Sky: “It could well be that this is a very long break for Jerome Boateng in the German national team, as long as Low is in charge there.”
Meanwhile Low himself has revealed he has spoken with the defender and has told him he thinks his decision will benefit the player.
Low said: “I have spoken to him and I’m convinced he could do with a good break.”
