Hughton – Brighton ready for scrap

Brighton boss Chris Hughton says there is a mood of determination around the camp as they prepare to take on Newcastle on Saturday evening. The Newcastle game is vital and a win would be a massive step towards safety. If Cardiff lose at Fulham earlier in the day Brighton would effectively be safe with a win, but the Seagulls have not won or scored a goal in their last seven matches.

Given the last two games of the season are away at Arsenal and home to Manchester City, points against Newcastle look to be a must and Hughton says his players are ready for the fight ahead. “There’s no doubt in my mind that the dressing room has the character and determination to stay in this division,” Hughton said.

“The current feeling in the changing isn’t one we’ve experienced for a lot of the campaign – what you need in times like this is character and motivated players – our last two matches have shown that. “The feel and the mood I see around the changing room is one of determination, and I see that on the training pitch too, it’s about putting that into practice.”
