Brighton Stopper Wants Reaction

Brighton goalkeeper Maty Ryan wants to see a reaction when they travel to Leicester in their next league outing. The Seagulls are usually tough to crack on home soil but they rolled over as Burnley left with the maximum points.

Chris Wood netted a brace before Ashley Barnes scored a penalty to wrap up a 3-1 victory and Ryan felt all three goals could have been avoided.

Brighton don’t return to action until February 26 when they travel to Leicester and Ryan has called on his teammates to “show a reaction”.

Ryan told Brighton’s official website: “Defensively, we were too soft. Every goal that they scored and all their chances were created with far too much ease. “When you defend that way you don’t give yourselves a chance.

The next test now is to show a bit of character and bounce back from this – it happens to the best teams in the world and every team out there. “It’s the momentum of the league and how it goes sometimes.

One thing we’ve prided ourselves on is the strength of being at home and making the Amex a fortress. “No doubt we will get back to our strengths and clean up the defensive side of things and be more stern at the back, the next one in the league is Leicester away and it’s going to be important to show a reaction there.”
