Bristol Rovers v Brighton And Hove Albion Team News

Adam Webster will make his Brighton debut in the EFL Cup second-round clash with Bristol Rovers at what Graham Potter expects to be a hostile Memorial Ground.

The Seagulls boss is set to rest a number of starters from Saturday’s 2-0 defeat against Southampton for the trip to face the League One side.
Potter should learn plenty about his fringe squad and how they cope with the pressure at a stadium he knows well from his playing days. “I always remember it as quite a hostile place,” said Potter, who spent most of his career in the lower leagues – making over 100 appearances for York City.

The Seagulls boss expects Gas fans to “get behind the home team” and make it  “a proper game” for his side. “That’s what you want – a good test, against a good team,” he added.

Ex-Bristol City defender Adam Webster is poised to make his debut for Albion and he is unsure of the reaction he will get from home fans given his former club.

Webster says there is “no reason” why his new club cannot go on another long cup run and maybe even return to Wembley and lift the Carabao Cup next February.

But the 24-year-old warned Brighton cannot afford to look beyond Tuesday night’s tie – insisting the Premier League side underestimate Rovers at their peril.
