Brown Eyeing September Return

Brown Eyeing September Return

Hooker Fraser Brown says he is hoping to recover from his foot injury in time to feature in Scotland’s World Cup warm-up matches. The Glasgow Warriors front-rower had to be stretchered off in the Pro 14 Grand Final defeat against Leinster at Parkhead and was forced to go under the knife to fix damage to his foot and toe.

Now the 30-year-old faces a race against time to be fit for the World Cup in Japan, with Scotland preceding the tournament with warm-up games home and away against both France and Georgia. Brown is optimistic about his recovery and says head coach Gregor Townsend has not put any added pressure on finalising a return date.

“If I was ready to play some part in the warm-up games, that’d be nice, but at the minute we’re just going week by week,” Brown said.

“Then, as we get further and further into the summer, it’ll just be a case of seeing where I am and then going from there, but Gregor hasn’t put any extra burden on me to say at this stage, so it’s just a case of me doing my rehab. “All going well, I should fit to be in contention around the right time. That’s still the target for me, to be there or thereabouts for the last couple of warm-up games.”
