Brown,Wire In No Rush To Replace

Warrington have been granted a salary cap dispensation to cover Kevin Brown’s injury but will not be rushing out to spend it.

Brown was ruled out for the season after rupturing his Achilles tendon in training the week before the opening game of the season and is unlikely to play for the club again as his contract expires this year.

Wire chief executive Karl Fitzpatrick says they have now been given the nod to replace him, but will keep faith with Declan Patton for now after he impressed when stepping into the side to partner Blake Austin in the halves.

“With Kev picking up an injury in pre-season, it was possible for us to be granted salary cap dispensation and we applied for that,” he said. “We’ve been granted it, which is positive. “We won’t be rushing into spending it.

We’d prefer to keep our powder dry. “Declan will be getting a good shot at partnering Blake, but it’s nice to have a bit of cap space should we need to utilise it at some stage throughout the season.”
