Bucks Season Surprises Giannis

Giannis Antetokounmpo admits he didn’t expect Milwaukee Bucks to be as successful as they have been this season.

Milwaukee were expected to reach the playoffs but were rated as outsiders for the top seed in the Eastern Conference before the campaign began, with Boston Celtics, Toronto Raptors and Philadelphia 76ers considered the most likely candidates to top the pile.

The Bucks take on the Sixers on Thursday and need just one win in their remaining four regular season games to guarantee they will go into the playoffs with the best record in the NBA, and home court advantage in the postseason.

MVP candidate Giannis knew Milwaukee were set for a strong season but even he has been surprised by the Bucks’ exploits. “I thought we were going to be a really good team, but to be honest with you I didn’t think we would have the best record in the NBA,” he said after Monday’s 131-121 win over Brooklyn Nets. “We know how important it [the best record] is, but we’re just trying to get better. “Obviously we won the game but we didn’t play the best basketball we could play. Against Philly we’re just going to try and be better and hopefully we can clinch the first spot in the NBA.”
