Wolves legend Steve Bull says Ivan Cavaleiro’s goal-scoring return could be the start of something special.
The Portuguese has been plagued by a back problem picked-up in pre-season but started the EFL Cup defeat to Leicester and came on for the final 13 minutes of last weekend’s win over Southampton.
Cavaleiro took his chance by grabbing his first goal in the Premier League to help Nuno Espirito Santo’s men ease to a 2-0 win.
The 24-year-old will be hoping for more exposure in Saturday’s trip to Crystal Palace and Bull is certainly intrigued to see what he can do.
Writing in the Express and Star, the club’s record scorer backed the former Monaco man to play a key role for the remainder of the season.
“It was brilliant to see Ivan Cavaleiro announce his Premier League arrival in style by scoring with his first touch,” he wrote. “That is a rare feat indeed.
“The fact he made such a quick impact shows Nuno has got strong options from the bench, which we need in the Premier League.
“Cavaleiro is a talented young lad. He didn’t panic, he just wanted to hit the ball. He’s been out for a couple of months after being injured it will take him a few games to get back up to speed.”
