Bumrah Bundles Windies Out For 100 In India Win

Jasprit Bumrah took five second-innings wickets as India thrashed West Indies by 318 runs to win the first Test in Antigua. Bumrah claimed figures of 5-7 as the touring seamers bundled the hosts out for 100 in North Sound to extend India’s unbeaten streak against the West Indies to 22 Test matches – their longest winning run against any opponent in the longest format of the game.

Only Roston Chase (12), Kemar Roach (38) and Miguel Cummins (19) offered any resistance as the Windies were bowled out in under 27 overs. India’s trio of seamers – also including Mohammed Shami and Ishant Sharma – accounted for 18 wickets in the match, the joint-most by their pace bowlers in a Test in West Indies.

India skipper Virat Kohli had set West Indies 419 to win after declaring his team’s second innings on 343-7. The captain made 51 himself, but was outscored by Ajinkya Rahane (102) and Hanuma Vihari (92). Victory puts India joint-top of the inaugural World Test Championship table, albeit after just one game. The second Test begins in Jamaica on Friday.
