Burnley 0-3 Liverpool

Liverpool maintained their perfect start to the season with what was ultimately a comfortable 3-0 win at Burnley. The trip to Turf Moor could have been a potential banana skin for last season’s Premier League runners up but two goals in the space of four first half minutes effectively ended the contest.

Clarets forward Chris Wood opened the scoring at the wrong end with an unfortunate own goal on 33 minutes and Sadio Mane doubled Liverpool’s advantage soon after.
Roberto Firmino added a third with 10 minutes remaining to ensure Liverpool picked up a convincing victory, with Jurgen Klopp’s men also securing their first clean sheet of the season.

Burnley made a bright start and took the game to Liverpool as Wood forced a save from Adrian in the opening exchanges.
Mohamed Salah saw two chances come and go for the visitors, while Dwight McNeil and Aaron Lennon looked lively for the Clarets without really forcing any clear cut opportunities.

Liverpool broke the deadlock just after the half hour mark when Trent Alexander-Arnold’s cross took a deflection off Wood and looped over the stranded Nick Pope in the Burnley goal.
Luck was on the Reds’ side for the second as well, as Ben Mee gifted the ball to Firmino. The Brazilian the picked out Mane who fired a low drive past Pope.

Chances were few and far between after the restart but Liverpool struck late on as Firmino struck from the edge of the area after being played in by Salah.
Liverpool sit at the top of the Premier League table going into the international break with 12 points from four games, while Burnley sit 11th with four points on the board.
