Burns Ends Short Lancashire Stint

Batsman Joe Burns has departed Lancashire after just one appearance and returned to Australia for personal reasons.

The 29-year-old former Glamorgan, Leicestershire and Middlesex batsman arrived at Old Trafford alongside fellow Australia international Glenn Maxwell ahead of the 2019 County Championship Division Two campaign.

After featuring in the 10-wicket win against Northamptonshire, the club have confirmed that Burns will be going back to his homeland with immediate effect. “Lancashire Cricket wishes Joe all the best, and it would be appreciated if his privacy is respected during this time,” a club statement said.

Lancashire have drafted Jake Lehmann into their squad for this week’s match against Worcestershire.
