Cardiff Hitman Earns Jamaica Call

Cardiff striker Bobby Reid has accepted a call from Jamaica ahead of this summer’s CONCACAF Gold Cup.

The 26-year-old was born in Bristol to Jamaican parents and has been on their radar since joining Cardiff last summer.

Jamaica head coach Theodore Whitmore recently travelled to England on a scouting mission and is understood to have been impressed with Reid’s exploits.

Reid has bagged four goals in 25 Premier League appearances this season and could play a big role in their Gold Cup campaign. “Bobby Reid, who plays in the English Premier League for Cardiff City, he has always been in the mix, and so he will be one of those players, who will play for us,” said Jamaica Football Federation President Michael Ricketts.

“He will be in the set-up, and he is very keen to come to Jamaica and represent the country.” Jamaica take on the United States in a friendly in Washington on June 6 before facing Honduras, El Salvador and Curacao in this summer’s tournament.
