Toulouse boss Alain Casanova says Manu Garcia still has a lot of work to do to fulfil his potential. The former Spain Under-19 international joined the French outfit on a season-long loan from English champions Manchester City this summer and there was huge excitement ahead of his arrival at the Stadium Municipal.
However, the 20-year-old, who has featured in just one Premier League match for the Citizens, failed to impress during his first couple of appearances and this forced the manager to give the loan signing a good shake.
Speaking about Garcia’s potential, Casanova was quoted as saying by L’Equipe: “I could see he was a bit too calm, a bit too confident in a sense that he expected that everything would fall into place.
“However, we couldn’t afford to wait for that. Especially him. He’s got huge potential, but if he hasn’t expressed it yet, it’s because he’s lacking in places.
“He needs to be better with his intensity, and winning the ball back, reacting when the ball is lost. He needs to expand his game. He’s a great player with the ball. He needs to become a great player without it.”
