Reports in the French press claim Lee Cattermole’s proposed loan move from Sunderland to Ligue 1 outfit Bordeaux is off. The Black Cats’ relegation to League One always looked like seeing the tough-tackling midfielder exit the Stadium of Light and he was linked with a move to the French top-flight outfit to reunite with former Sunderland boss Gus Poyet.
Les Girondins enquired about a loan deal and it seemed as though the 30-year-old was keen on the idea of moving to the continent.
However, sources in France are suggesting that the player’s wage demands have scuppered any deal along with the fact the Wearsiders wanted to sell Cattermole as opposed to loaning him for a year.
Youngster Bali Mumba has been keeping the former Middlesbrough star out of the line-up so far this term but manager Jack Ross has stated that he is happy with the Cattermole’s attitude.
