Manchester City are plotting a move for Sporting Braga winger Francisco Trincao but face a major battle with Juventus.
Director of football Txiki Begiristain has received glowing reports from his scouts on the 18-year-old, who has bagged 11 goals in just 16 games for Portugal’s under-19 side.
It’s understood the Citizens are keen but have learned Trincao has a £30m release clause and they are not the only club to have made contact with Braga.
Serie A champions Juventus are understood to have had a £7m bid rejected during the summer and have asked his club to keep them updated of any other offers.
Braga have made it clear they won’t allow the starlet to leave unless someone forces their hand and is prepared to meet the buyout in his contract.
City, however, do have strong connections in Portugal and know Trincao is also a massive fan of his fellow countryman and Etihad playmaker Bernardo Silva.
Juventus are wary or Begiristain’s appearance on the scene and the Italians don’t want to get dragged into an auction with City’s deeper pockets.
