Clarets Keeper Wanted On South Coast

Bournemouth have been tipped to make a £15million move for Clarets goalkeeper Nick Pope as Eddie Howe continues his spending spree. The Cherries boss got his busy summer of recruitment underway by sealing the £13m signing of England under-21 defender Lloyd Kelly from Bristol City this weekend.

But a new goalkeeper is high on Howe’s agenda, while he is also looking at Stoke City’s Jack Butland, Pope is said to be his top target. Bournemouth were believed to be ready to offer out-of-favour Asmir Begovic back to his former club as a makeweight in any Butland deal.

The Daily Mail claim Pope will come cheaper and that Bournemouth are now set to firm up their interest with an opening offer for the 27-year-old keeper. Pope’s excellent 2017-18 performances earned him a spot in England’s World Cup squad, but a shoulder injury cost him a large chunk of the most recent campaign.
