Hannover coach Andre Breitenreiter always felt Bobby Wood would come good after he scored twice in a 3-1 win over Stuttgart. Hannover went into Saturday’s fixture bottom of the Bundesliga without a league win all season but the USA international struck twice in the first half while Ihlas Bebou added a third in second-half stoppage time to seal the points.
Wood, who is on as season-long loan at Die Roten from Hamburg, seemed to be struggling early on this term but Breitenreiter never had any doubts about his talent.
“It wasn’t the easiest situation for Bobby at Hamburg, as for all who were there,” he said. “In spite of that, we were convinced of his qualities.”
Wood seems happy at the club and admits backing from management and team-mates helped him settle.
“I never had any pressure,” he said. “Staff and team always had my back. I had the feeling that if I work I will be rewarded. That’s what they all told me time and time again.”
