Coleman Set For Terriers Chance

Coleman Set For Terriers Chance

Jan Siewert has confirmed goalkeeper Joel Coleman will start in Huddersfield’s final game of the season at Southampton on Sunday.

The Terriers chief revealed the 23-year-old, who has spent the majority of this past season on loan at League One side Shrewsbury, will be between the sticks at St Mary’s this weekend.

Ben Hamer has been struggling with a knock and Jonas Lossl will be leaving the John Smith’s Stadium this summer, so Siewert is keen to have a look at Coleman ahead of next season in the Championship.

He told his Friday afternoon press conference: “This game is a good possibility to see Joel Coleman. He will start because I have to look at him.

He deserves a chance.” Erik Durm has not recovered from the gluteal muscle injury that forced him off against Manchester United last Sunday, while Mathias ‘Zanka’ Jorgensen has not trained properly this week so will again be absent.

Chris Lowe suffered a slight knock in the week, but Siewert expects to have “nearly the same squad” from the one which drew 1-1 against the Red Devils.

Looking ahead to the game, he added: “We know it will be tough game against a tough team who will fight for second balls and not give it away. Hopefully we can end the season with a win.”
