Quade Cooper has fired a dig at Reds coach Brad Thorn as he prepares to join the Melbourne Rebels for the 2019 season. Cooper was just one season into a three-year deal with the Queenslanders, but Thorn slammed the door shut on him playing Super Rugby, despite calls for his return to the set up.
“Quade’s been playing club rugby. He’s been playing well, but we’ve just been working with the guys we’ve got there,” Thorn said in April.
The 30-year-old was left plying his trade for Brisbane club Souths in the Queensland Premier Rugby competition, but is now ready to return with the Rebels and took to social media to have a pop at Thorn.
Cooper shared an old picture of Thorn attempting to tackle him during the 2011 World Cup semi-final between the All Blacks and Australia at Eden Park, on his personal Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts.
The caption with the picture read: “Sometimes you are forced out of the place you love but thank god there’s more than one place that loves me.”
