Cracksman is expected to defend his Champion Stakes crown at Ascot in October after being confirmed as one of 49 entries.
The John Gosden-trained colt won last year’s 10-furlong race by an impressive seven lengths and continued where he left off in the Prix Ganay in France on his seasonal reappearance this year.
However, his form has stuttered of late, with a less-than-convincing win in the Coronation Cup at Epsom, which was followed by a disappointing defeat to Poet’s Word in the Prince of Wales’s Stakes at Royal Ascot last month.
Despite that outcome, owner-breeder Anthony Oppenheimer is relishing the prospect of Cracksman attempting to claim the £1.3million race for a second successive year.
He said: “Cracksman was absolutely in his element last year and it was a marvellous day. There is no question the race will be considered (again).”11 BUSINESS NUGGETS FROM SUPER EAGLES BRONZE MEDAL TRIUMPH. The content of this ebook will propel you above your competition. Buy NOW!!!
