Crolla Hopeful Of Lomachenko Bout

Anthony Crolla is hopeful of securing a bout against WBA and WBO lightweight champion Vasyl Lomachenko and claims he is beatable.

The 32-year-old Mancunian is looking to secure another title shot having held the WBA lightweight title from 2015 to 2016 before losing to Jorge Linares and suffering a second defeat in the rematch in March 2017.

Crolla has become the WBA mandatory challenger thanks to his points win against Daud Yordan at the Manchester Arena in November.

And a possible showdown with Lomachenko could come about after his proposed unification clash with Richard Commey was put on the backburner after the IBF champion picked up a hand injury when defeating Isa Chaniev.

Crolla will find out on Wednesday if he will step in to face Lomachenko and he firmly believes he can be the man to get the better of the 30-year-old Ukrainian.

Crolla told Sky Sports: “Listen, there’s no doubt he’s a special fighter, but he’s very unorthodox, so how do you study, how do you come up with a gameplan for a fighter like that?

“But like every other fighter, we’ll watch as many fights as possible. We’re lucky with Lomachenko, there’s so much footage on him. He does a lot of things very well, but we think we can do well to unsettle him, and cause a huge upset.”

He added: “I believe that I can win a world title again, and these are the kind of fights that I’m in it for. This is the biggest fight that can be made out there for me. “No man is unbeatable. It’s been proven with Lomachenko. He lost early on in his career [to Orlando Salido].”
