Jose Mourinho is likely to have young right-back Diogo Dalot available for selection after next month’s international break. The surprise £20m summer capture from Porto has been recovering well from a routine knee operation he underwent at the end of last season.
Dalot was spotted using crutches at one stage but the promising 19-year-old has been given the green light since the weekend to step up the final part of his recovery.
United boss Jose Mourinho is excited by Dalot’s potential and has been receiving regular updates from the club’s new-look conditioning staff.
The Red Devils currently also have skipper Antonio Valencia sidelined through injury, so Dalot’s impending availability will be a major boost for Mourinho.
It is understood Dalot is doing ball work and it is likely he will be integrated fully with his new team-mates during the next few days, with one eye towards being considered for regular selection after September’s international hiatus.
Dalot is certainly considered one for the future but United still expect Italy right-back Matteo Darmian to exit Old Trafford before the window closes on the continent at the end of this month, meaning the Portuguese prospect could find himself bumped up the pecking order.
